The Bell at Yarpole is a community owned pub located in the centre of the village bought by local residents in September 2018. The ancient building, dating back to the seventeenth century, has been extensively renovated and sits in about 3/4 of an acre of pasture in the heart of the village. The pub itself is connected to the original cider barn which would have produced the refreshment from the many orchards in the area.
The Bell Inn operated as a thriving pub at the heart of Yarpole for many years. It became clear, in 2018, that we were about to lose our village pub, as the last tenants left and Enterprise Inns put it up for sale. The thought of losing it, most likely to a developer, galvanised opinion, which turned into action as a group was formed to rescue it for the benefit of the community.
The pub perfectly complements the village’s other thriving grassroots projects, the flourishing shop and The Gallery café. However there are some things that only a pub can provide. The objective is to have a friendly, welcoming village pub with good food.
The pub was extensively renovated after its purchase by the community. This included redecorating throughout. The kitchen area was modernised and brought up to expectations for the twenty first century. The garden area has been adopted and maintained by the village.
There is a two bedroomed flat above the premises which has also been modernised with the installation of a new bathroom and kitchen; allowing the unit to be fully self contained and separate from the pub.
We once again look forward to the Bell at Yarpole being a successful business and attracting customers from around the local area as well as from the village itself. The pub is currently being run by a dedicated band of volunteers while we decide how best to take the business forward. We have teamed up with an experienced chef and offer delicious home prepared and cooked meals on a Friday & Saturday evening as well as Sunday lunch.
Large beer gardens to the front, side and rear make The Bell at Yarpole the perfect stopover for walkers, bikers and riders to chill out and soak up the atmosphere.
Well behaved dogs welcome in the Village bar and gardens. There is extensive car parking available for customers using the pub.
