Ales, ciders and outstanding wines.

Local lagers, ales and ciders are available on tap. We have recently teamed up with Wye Valley Brewery as our lead brewer. We have their pale ale, Fandango, their stout, Nightjar and their lager, 1985 all available on draught. We also stock Gasping Goose; a local cider from Newton Court just south of Leominster. Guest ales are also available, different beers from our local producers The Ludlow Brewing Company Three Tuns, Hobsons and Wye Valley.

We are located in the heart of the beautiful Herefordshire countryside. A stones throne from many beautiful walks, including the gorgeous Fish Pool Valley, National Trust sites, and treasures like Ludlow Castle. The Yarpole circular walk can be started and finished at the Bell. Yarpole Bell Tower, next to St Leonard’s church, is one of the oldest timber frame structures in England. It was erected in 1187.

We are happy to welcome motorhomes and camper vans on our off-road car park behind the pub. We require stopover guests to use the pub in some capacity – with a recommended minimum spend of £20 for use of our facilities.

Facilities in the village include an award winning community Shop and Post Office. There is also a Gallery Café in the church. Both the Shop and the Gallery café are run by volunteers.

Herefordshire Histories Week.

10th to 18th May. The pub still retains the original Mill and large millstone, dating from the 17th century; used for pulping the apples. The Cider Mill was powered using a horse. Horses had to be trained to push the mill which turned the millstone, crushing the apple crop in the trough. The pulp was then transferred into special cloths, called cheeses, and arranged on the press. The press was tightened, using man power, crushing the pulp to produce the juice that was used to make cider. The Mill and press were originally in a separate barn adjacent to the pub. The building was renovated and incorporated into the pub building in the 1980’s. However, the mill and press were untouched. It is still possible to see the stable outline used for the horse. The pub previously owned 12 acres of orchard which produced the apples for the cider. Why not sample a glass of local cider in the pub? The pub is community owned and managed. We operate with a combination of volunteers and paid staff. Come and visit us. We will be open for lunch on Wednesday 14th May and Thursday 15th May offering a cider and apple
